Pricing an online service is one of the decisions that most affects business sustainability and one of the least systematically approached. Most online service providers price by market comparison — finding out what others charge and positioning somewhere in that range — without analyzing whether that range supports the actual cost of delivering their specific service at the quality level they’re targeting. The result is pricing that is competitive in appearance and financially fragile in practice. This module covers how to build pricing from the ground up.

You’ll work with:

  • Cost-of-delivery analysis: calculating the full cost of producing a service including time, tools, subcontractors, and overhead
  • Revenue structure options: retainer, project, productized service, and hybrid models — the operational implications and financial characteristics of each
  • Value-based pricing application: assessing the client-side value of a service outcome and using that assessment to justify pricing above cost-plus minimums

Outcome: A pricing structure built on delivery cost analysis and value assessment — producing prices that are commercially sound, consistently applied, and defensible to clients without discounting from a position of uncertainty.
